crack open a beer

or a water the party is done!

This morning we had a little party for my big 7 year old. It was so exciting for him that Anthony was up at 6am waiting for his big day to start. John sent him to bed and he came back at 612am asking if he went back to bed for long enough. Good thing I was at the gym and he didn't wake me up!

I put together a present treasure hunt for him and he found all his presents and was done for the day. See, he finally got a Nintendo DS. He was thrilled and the day could be over for him and it would have been great. But no, at 930am the doorbell rang, it was guest #1.

The other kids showed up closer to 10 and it was time to let the water gun fight begin. Then, we brought out the water balloons that took us 5 hours to fill up. 5 minutes later they were grabbing their water guns again and it looked as though there was a pound of confetti on the grass. Me being me I made a contest to see who could collect the most balloons off the ground. Surprisingly every kid jumped to the task happily! Although no one was happier than me!

After cake and ice cream, the parents came to pick up and I sat in a corner nursing a cold one. All in all it was a good day....sad but good!
